I've had an interest in martial arts since I saw my first Bruce Lee movie as a young boy back in the early eighties. I took up JKA (Shotokan) karate as a youngster, and soon found myself falling in love even more with martial arts. Soon after receiving my orange belt my family moved to another town, and soon afterwards again to another and another, which ended my practice of Karate.
I discovered JuJitsu through a friend of a friend in 1995 after being mugged one day after work. My aggression was at an all time high before I started JuJitsu , but soon found myself calming down as I learned the art of JuJitsu. I've been studying under Sensei Michiel Nel who is in my opinion one of the most precise instructors in traditional JuJitsu, and an expert in weapons training. I've also been privileged enough to attend seminars from instructors from around the globe such as late Sensei Heribert Cherwenka-Wenkstetten (9th dan).
